A keyboard which recognizes gestures? Yes, it is possible.

Microsoft Research keeps with investigations which surprises by the mere fact of trying to see more than we see the rest, in this case it has achieved to evolve in something that nobody will think it could improve, do you want to see it?

It seemed something unnecessary the fact of evolving in a peripheral so simple like a keyboard, but here they are the brilliant minds of Microsoft Research which have achieved that the keyboard detects hands and fingers to simplify actions, don´t you think that?, watch the video:

As you can appreciate, the keyboard is able to detect movements which will simplify us the life, like for instance the scroll horizontal and vertical without having to use mouse, the enlarge or minimize photos, simple movements which allows play games…

Definitely it is a prototype of a device that at first glance was almost perfect, but what they wanted to go further, trying to be a substitute for the touchpad. For now, the device has an accuracy of 75,6% and 89,9%, which with a little work could be improved further if in the future decide to sell it.

For example, I think they could commercialize like other keyboard for the Surface, giving them other competitive advantage to competition, making even more special the experience with Surface.

Definitely an advance more of Microsoft Research, although many of its inventions aren´t commercialized by diverse causes, there are always hopes of seeing similar functions in other devices, we hope they keep working and we can have improved keyboards in the future.

Everything is possible with Microsoft Research
